paul mccartney elevated himself from being the cute beatle to the hardcore beatle. there’s that hoax about him dying in a car crash. he once read that the who’s “i can see for miles” was the heaviest rock song at the time and then outdid it by composing “helter skelter”. he controlled the artistic direction for albums like “sgt. pepper” and “abbey road”. he openly admitted to using drugs like LSD and didn’t give a fuck what people thought. he was the one always pushing the other three beatles to do something together near the end, having taken a leadership position after brian epstein died and before they broke up. oh yeah, and the film let it be (1970) still hasn’t been released on DVD because of how much of an asshole it makes him look.
